Start here

  1. Find the app.

Not Yet lives in the menu bar, not the Dock. Click the eyes to open its panel. Choose a duration and click Keep awake. An active session appears only after macOS accepts the request.

  2. If your Mac still sleeps.

Check that a session is active. Enable Keep the display on before starting if it’s the display that turns off. Manual sleep, a closed lid and system power decisions take priority.

  3. If Away mode does not start.

Enable it in Settings → Away mode. Use a threshold shorter than your macOS sleep delay. After opening the app while already idle, or after waking your Mac, interact with it first to arm the next absence. A manual session takes priority.

  4. If you see a session error.

Try the action again. If ending a session fails, Not Yet keeps its active state so you can retry. Send the displayed error and reproduction steps to support if it persists.

  5. If launch at login needs approval.

Enable it in Settings → General. If macOS asks for approval, review Login Items in System Settings. Opening at login does not restore an old session.

Purchases & refunds

For purchases made through the Mac App Store, Apple handles payment, billing and refund requests. Refund eligibility depends on Apple and your country or region. Contact Apple for a refund; contact us for help using Not Yet.

More about using Not Yet

Can I choose a custom duration?

Yes. Choose Custom duration and set hours and minutes, from 1 minute to 23 hours and 59 minutes. Presets are 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour and 2 hours. There’s also an indefinite option.

Does the screen have to stay on?

No. Enable Keep the display on if you want it lit. Turn it off to allow the display to rest while the Mac stays awake. Duration and display changes during a session apply to the next session.

How does Away mode work?

It is off by default. When enabled, it checks idle time about every 2 seconds and starts one session after your chosen threshold. Returning ends the automatic session; manual sessions have priority. Expiring or stopping does not start another session during the same absence.

How do I end a session?

Open Not Yet in the menu bar and choose End session. Timed sessions expire automatically. Quitting the app or putting your Mac to sleep also ends the session. Reopening the app never restores an old session.

What about closing the lid or choosing Sleep?

Not Yet prevents idle sleep only. It does not override manual sleep, lid closure, shutdown, restart or the system’s power decisions. Locking your screen does not end the session in this version.

Can it open at login? What languages are available?

Launch at login is optional in Settings → General and is managed by macOS. English is the default app language, with Brazilian Portuguese selectable in Settings → General → Language.

Which Macs can use it?

Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later. The app includes native builds for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
